Last week we published Part I of the series “Can Social Media Be Politically Predictive?” that showed a possible correlation between the number of Twitter mentions and total number of votes.

Previously, we found a high correlation between Twitter mentions and votes in the primary election between Dan Patrick and David Dewhurst, with Patrick receiving nearly double the amount of mentions compared to Dewhurst.

In the time span between the initial primary vote and the morning of the runoff election, Patrick has managed to maintain his strong lead on Twitter:image1
Not only has Patrick received more mentions than Dewhurst in the past few months, he has also managed to gain more Twitter followers:

Will this trend prove to be an advantage again? We will see tonight once the votes are in if the prediction proves accurate.
